The Nursing + Allied Health Training Facility is a collaborative venture between aged care provider Matthew Flinders Homes and the University of South Australia, sharing a vision to improve education and employment for the youth of the Eyre Peninsula.
The purpose-built skills lab and simulated resident room (an exact replica of those Grieve Gillett Architects designed as part of the adjacent main redevelopment) with high-tech medical dummy provide the optimum training environment for students of nursing, aged care and allied disciplines. Set against an ocean vista, learners experience a welcoming, collegiate environment with dedicated student workspaces, breakout and kitchen.
By supporting local staff training and catering to rural students, it’s a hub of opportunity. Embracing hybrid learning, students receive local, hands-on experience while benefitting from remote lectures held at the city campus. Matthew Flinders Homes have shared use, facilitating staff inductions and professional development. Residents benefit from enhanced personal interactions and access to skilled professionals, enriching their daily experience.
