Flinders Housing identified the need for additional student accommodation on Campus, in an area adjacent to the existing 42 townhouses and University Hall. The project was developed in conjunction with Alpine Constructions, on a lease-back
arrangement to the University.
The two storey development incorporates 200 bedrooms in 40 units, with 5 bedrooms in each unit. The design of the units reflects current best-practice student housing facilities in Australia. Each unit is a communal living space for five students, with private bedrooms opening onto a common living, cooking and eating area. This encourages student interaction and social support for students, who are typically a long way from home.
The development also incorporates two laundries, outdoor barbecue pavilions and a student amenity building - including a kitchen, function / tutorial spaces, a prayer room and a sound isolated music room.
